For sale an extremely rare and very important piece of Tom Dixon design, the Spiral Floor Lamp, designed in 1989, executed by the designer’s Studio and credited by Dixon as being his “first real lamp” which “parked off an enduring passion and interest in lighting objects”.
This stunning early sculptural lamp consists of a coiled steel with gold leaf stem/shade, on a domed gilt-steel base. The spiral shade is deliberately springy encouraging interaction with the lamp which in turn projects playful/dancing light on the ceiling.
The lamp has been rewired and tested and is in good working order. The gilt finish is in fair to good vintage condition, with patina and wear commensurate with 30 years of age & use. This highly sought-after piece, produced in a limited run, makes quite a statement both on and off and would look amazing in most settings.
Height: 130cm / Base Diameter: 51cm
