For sale an elegant Mid-Century Modernist table lamp designed by master ceramicist, Nils Kähler for Herman A. Kähler (HAK) of Denmark, in the 1960s.
This tall version of this stoneware table lamp consists of Kähler’s signature deep, rich turquoise-blue salt glaze, with a repeating impressed herringbone pattern, juxtaposed against the streaked and smooth earthy matt collar, a hallmark of the artist’s work.
The lamp is signed “HAK – Nils” and inscribed “DENMARK” to the base and is in good working order and excellent vintage condition, with the only issue of note being a small inconspicuous chip to the top rim (see photograph). The lamp is controlled via a push-button switch on the lamp holder and is sold without a shade.
Nils Kähler began his career as an apprentice with Herman A. Kähler, the famous family ceramics business, where he learned the skills needed to become a master ceramist.
