For sale this icon of Postmodern design, Bang & Olufsen’s BEOCOM 2000 analogue telephone, designed by Henrik Sørig Thomsen, dating from 1986 and manufactured in Denmark. The Beocom range was B&Os first foray into telephones; the aim was to design “the world’s best telephone” and the range turned out to be a huge success, appealing to both professional and private users alike.
“The idea of a colourful telephone that became the focal point of a room was new. It also integrated many thoughtful features such as a hi-fi quality sound, a lightweight handset, a note pad that slides out to reveal a code-number dialling list and user manual and an emergency call button for children and elderly.”
The phone is in good working order and in excellent vintage condition, with very minor age related wear, and looks absolutely fabulous. There is some expected age related discolouration to the cream plastic, which is only noticeable on the hidden parts of the handset (see photos), but absolutely nothing to detract.
