For sale the wonderful, seminal, “BOOMERANG” Chair (FD-134) designed by Peter Hvidt & Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen in c.1956 and produced by France & Søn (Denmark).
The chair consists of a beautifully sculpted boomerang shaped teak frame mounted on slender brass plated steel legs with self-levelling glides. The seat cushions have been replaced with fire retardant foam and have been re-upholstered in a beautiful charcoal grey pure British wool fabric.
The Teak frame is solid and in good vintage condition with only minor age related marks and scratches and has wonderful grain and patina. The brass plating on the legs has mostly worn off and the coil spring stretchers, despite some splits, are all present and holding firmly, resulting in a firm and comfortable sit. The chair has “made in denmark” gold-stamped to the underside but is, however, missing it’s manufacturer’s metal disc label.
A rare opportunity to own a truly iconic and seminal piece of mid-century modernist Danish furniture by one of the most important furniture designers of his & her era.
