A beautiful vintage, authentic, Orange ARTEMIDE NESSO table lamp designed by Giancarlo Mattioli & Gruppo Architetti Urbanisti Citta Nuova, Italy in 1964.
A seminal and classic retro piece of modern design, widely copied and hugely inspirational, which has a massive presence and looks absolutely stunning; giving off a deep warm orange glow when on and looking equally impressive when off with it’s lovely contours and glossy reflective surfaces.
The lamp is an impressive 21″ (54cm) wide and is 13″ (34cm) tall and is made of injection moulded acrylic and takes 4 x 25W bulbs. It also has the “Artemide Modern Classic” label, serial number and moulded marking with manufacturer, model, design and patent information on the base.
The Nesso is featured in the Twentieth Century Design Collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York (MoMA) and also in many other collections throughout the world.
According to the 2002-03 Artemide Quick Reference Catalogue “In 1999, coinciding with its fortieth birthday, Artemide revisited and proposed eighteen of its first luminaries from the sixties and seventies, and placed them back into production, following the original handcrafted manufacturing processes…The collection was to have a limited period of production but, because of the great success and continuing demand, nine of the eighteen models will continue to be offered.” the Nesso is one one of these, and the one we are selling is a post 90’s model.
