For sale the wonderfully playful “MAYDAY” lamp (1999), designed by Konstantin Grcic and produced by FLOS.
“Mayday” (An SOS call derived from the French m’aider – help me) is an iconic contemporary lamp designed by Konstantin Grcic, for which he won the highly prestigious Compasso d’Oro, in 2001. Currently on display and in the permanent collection at MOMA (New York), the lamp is hailed as a cult object of contemporary design. Inspired by the utilitarian nature of industrial equipment, the “Mayday” is distinguished by it’s low-cost, light, yet durable materials and it’s versatility (can easily be hung, placed on the floor/surface or hand-held).
The lamp has a rubber-protected push button on/off switch in the base of the orange gallery, is in very clean used condition and is without any damage.
Hang it from a tree branch in the garden, use it in the garage or the cellar, place it on a sideboard in the living room as a statement piece, hang it from the ceiling like a pendant light over a dining room table or simply hang it on a coat hook in your entrance hall.
