For sale a classic 1960’s, Red, Model 1227 Anglepoise lamp, designed by the automotive engineer George Carwardine, for Herbert Terry & Sons of Redditch, England.
This seminal lamp with it’s three-spring design and Art Deco-inspired two tier base, was the very first domestic ANGLEPOISE lamp, and was born of the ability of a new type of spring, invented by Carwardine in 1932, which allowed for movement in every conceivable direction. The 1227 Anglepoise is probably one of the most game-changing and seminal lamps ever produced and is as popular today as it was when first produced in 1934.

The lamp works well, is in excellent vintage condition, has a black braided cloth wire and comes with a new chrome bulb holder. There are some areas of paint loss (see pics), commensurate with age and use but nothing to detract in the least. The shade has no dents and the springs are in good condition, despite some very mild pitting (see pic).
