For sale a set of four Giancarlo Piretti “Plia” Chairs, made by Anonima Castelli of Italy. Designed in 1967 this iconic and seminal piece of design revolutionised the concept of a folding chair, with Piretti’s development of the “three-disc hinge” being considered as a stroke of genius.
The chairs are sturdy, undamaged and in good vintage condition. The smoked grey polypropylene seats and backrests are in a surprisingly good state, with less than expected marks & scratches. The chromed steel frames do however have some wear to the horizontal foot segments (2 of the chairs in particular – see photos), though the rest of the frames are mostly clean and bright with some minor speckling in places.
Get yourselves a wonderful, cult piece of “Democratic design” that is included in major museum design collections.
