For sale a stunningly elegant and rare, first edition pair of “Washington” lamps, designed by Jean-Michel WILMOTTE , circa 1983, in lacquered metal with matt black epoxy powders.
The lamp was first conceived & designed in 1983 for the French Embassy in Washington (thus the name), by renowned French Architect, J M Wilmotte. Soon after, the lamp was edited by Lumen Center Italia and has since been re-edited as part of their ‘Classic’ range.
The pair are in good working order, are controlled from in-line switches on the cord (one has a replacement switch) and are in good vintage condition with various marks & scratches, commensurate with over 30 years of age and use. One of the lamps has some small paint loss to the base and a slightly un-even shade (see photos), but nothing to detract.
Dimensions: height – 39cm / Shade Diameter – 39cm / Overall depth – 51cm
