For sale is a wonderful vintage 20th Century African hand-carved ten-legged stool or table, originating from the Nupe tribe of Nigeria, Africa and dating from circa the 1950s.
This traditional circular tribal stool, hand-carved from a single block of Indigenous wood, would have been a prestige item, to be used only on salient occasions such as market days and at important meetings or gatherings.
In good undamaged condition, with no repairs and with wear commensurate with 60+ years of age and use, the stool is imperfectly perfect, just as it should be.
The Nupe people mainly live near the confluence of the Niger and Kaduna rivers in North Central Nigeria and are the dominant ethnic group of the Niger State.
