For sale a rare and very beautiful teak armchair by the high-end Mid-Century furniture manufacturer, Greaves & Thomas and dating from circa 1960’s. These highly sought after pieces of British made furniture are perfectly proportioned, relatively light and extremely solid and strong and would work perfectly in any Modernist, retro, contemporary or eclectic setting.
This is British Mid-Century furniture at it’s finest, with the perfect marriage of beautiful design, exquisite workmanship and materials of the highest quality. The armrests, which are (together with the fanning spindle back) the outstanding design feature of this chair, curve up and swoop round, acting essentially as the upper frame of the seat and creating a stunningly tactile and fluid form, narrowing and finishing off with the up-turning slender wedge-shaped arms.
The chair frame and legs are solid and firm and the wood is in really fantastic condition with a lovely deep grain and only showing the faintest signs of age and use. The cushions have been replaced and re-upholstered in a beautiful light grey wool fabric.
Approx. measurements: 69 x 77 x 71 cm (WxDxH)
