For sale a wonderful Pop-Art photo-lithograph by Andy Warhol, taken from his “INDEX BOOK”, which was published by Random House in 1967. The book was apparently a volume intended to be “a children’s book for hipsters” and this 3 page spread featuring a mouth, nose and forehead, with the nose having multiple colour cut-out overlays, would have at some stage in it’s history been detached from the book.
The print itself is clean with no dents or tears apart from the page folds and the colours are vivid and un-faded. The print has been professionally framed and has a photocopy of the flip-side of the lithograph mounted on the back, though the corners of the frame do have some minor wear (see photos).
All-in-all a gorgeous, striking, original Mid-century print with a very interesting provenance, produced by arguably one of the most important artists of the second half of the 20th century and dating back to the Factory period, at the height of the New York psychedelic scene.
Frame Measurements: height – 43cm , width – 77cm
