This hard to come by lamp, is fast becoming highly collectable and is the designer’s fourth collaboration with Ikea since 2012. The design which was inspired by old, portable railway lights, consists of a minimal white caged design with a handle, housing a red LED light block which can be powered & charged using a detachable usb cable and when charged can be used without the cord.
Crasset, the designer, says of the light: “It is a product that allows appropriation, it moves and lands where we need it. It is a humble and helpful object at the same time. It lands, it clings… always ready, we find this complicity with an object [the railway light] whose function is out of time, but whose presence is updated.” An old concept re-imagined for modern times.
