For sale a fabulous pair of “Clair-Obscur” (model C-1516) wall lights / sconces by Dutch lighting creator RAAK Amsterdam, dating from the 1960s.
This iconic pair of mid-century black lacquered metal and copper wall lights, can be hung separately or as a pair, in various layouts and directions and make quite a statement. Consisting of a bisected cube shaped body with two closed faces, one with a grid of copper tubed apertures which emanate a soft filtered light and two open sides that give off a lovely up-down glow; the overall effect is one of light and shade.
The lights are in working order and in good vintage condition, with marks and scratches commensurate with 50+ years of age & use but nothing to overly detract (please see photos for the worst of it). Both lights still retain their original Raak Amsterdam stickers on their mounting plates.
Approx. dimensions: W 27.5cm / H 20cm / D 15cm
We also have another three of these lights (not yet listed) with white mounting back plates. Let us know if you would like more information on these.
