For sale an extremely rare, final production, Charles & Ray Eames DCM dining Chair (occasional chair), produced by Herman Miller in March of 1953.
This 2nd Generation DCM has an ink-stamped production date (“3 53”), the original early Patent sticker and “DCM” stamped into the underside of the seat. These early copies have solid steel frames, rather than the later models that came with tube frames, so are weightier and more solid.
In good vintage condition, with a wonderful patina and age-appropriate wear (see pics), commensurate with 65 years of age and use. The chair is undamaged, the rubber shocks are all still good, the seat and backrest have dinks and scrapes to the edges and the ebonised frame has scrapes and scratches to the paintwork. All this just adds to the look and story of the chair.
