Original Sori Yanagi “Butterfly Stool” by Tendo Mokko Co. Ltd, Japan, 1956

For sale an absolutely stunning, iconic and seminal piece of Mid-Century Modernist design: a very rare, original, pre-1980’s, Butterfly Stool designed by Sori Yanagi in 1956 and produced by Tendo Mokko Co Ltd of Japan.

The Stool has it’s original “Tendo Mokko Co., Ltd – MADE IN JAPAN” sticker label to the underside (dating the stool to circa 1970s). In superb vintage condition with the only signs of age being a few minor scratches and the aged patina of the brass support. Otherwise the rosewood ply is clean and the grain rich, dark & deep.
