For sale an extremely rare & unique, original MARTIN PARR (British, born 1952) Magnum Photos, Limited Edition, signed & numbered, high quality baked enamel Tole tray.
Featuring the photograph “ENGLAND. LONDON. A SOLICITORS CHRISTMAS PARTY” 1995 (from his series “Luxury”), the edition was exclusively created for his retrospective exhibition, “Planete Parr, La Collection De Martin Parr”, at the Jeu de Paume Museum in Paris in the summer of 2009 and is signed and numbered by the artist and presented in it’s original box.

The exhibition, which was produced in collaboration with the Haus der Kunst in Munich, proposed a dialogue between the artist’s photographs (from his series, “Luxury”) and his vast collection of objects. It reveals the keenness of Parr’s vision and his fascination with the everyday, and features a mixture of the personal and the collective, with works by recognised artists alongside popular art. This was the first exhibition to feature not only his extraordinary collection of photography books and prints by British and international photographers, but also large numbers of objects and curiosities, from his personal collection, which closely reflect political and social events of the 20th century (Saddam Hussein watches, Osama Bin Laden toilet paper, Margaret Thatcher teapots and also his vast collection of kitsch printed trays, post cards and generic memorabilia).
The tray is in mint condition, having never been taken out of it’s box and the colours are bright & punchy.
