For sale a beautiful & rare modernist faceted and optical, cut & polished ‘teardrop’ Art Glass Vase by renowned glass designer ADOLF MATURA, for the NOVÝ BOR glassworks, Czechoslavakia, in 1958.
The vase is made using a 3-colour Sommerso process, with a light yellow to amber outer casing and a vibrant red core. The long elegant 4-faceted, upwardly tapering shape, is accentuated with it’s four cut corner base and distinctive concave lenses, which create a fish-eyed window onto the beautiful tip of the red teardrop core. The vase is in excellent vintage condition with age related scratches to the base and tiny air bubbles and imperfections inside the glass from manufacture (see photos), but certainly nothing to detract.
