For sale a “Pidou” or “Tubo” vase designed by Italian ceramicist, Alvino Bagni in 1979, and inspired by a visit to the Pompidou Centre in Paris, shortly after it’s opening in 1977 (thus it’s name Pom”PIDOU”).
The vase was part of a set that interlocked and was originally produced by Raymor Pottery, came in various colours & finishes (including this metallic glaze) and consisted of either 2 or 3 parts. In 2007 Habitat re-issued the Pidou (2 interlocking vases) which came in gold & silver metallic finishes, had a very limited run and retailed for £95, only in-store. These are also referred to as the “Tubo” which may have been the name given to this particular shape, with the other interlocking vases having their own unique names.
We have no idea whether this particular vase is a Raymor original or a Habitat re-issue, so will avoid making any claims on that, but suffice to say that either version is very hard to come by. The condition is excellent, with no chips, cracks, scratches or loss of glaze, though the finish does mark easily when handled.
Approx. measurements: 25.5cm high (10”) and 33cm (13”) wide.
